Rams finish seventh at 2022 OUA Championship

WATERLOO, Ont. - The Rams badminton team had a tough start to the OUA championship but came away with a win in their final match to finish in seventh place.

The Rams found themselves in a difficult pool with Western, eventual silver medalist York, and bronze medalist Waterloo. The young squad lost all three matches which set them up for a quarter-final match against Toronto, the winners of the other pool and eventual champions.

After falling to the Varsity Blues 6-0 in the quarter-final, the Rams squared off with McMaster in the consolation bracket. The Marauders bested the Rams 6-3 which sent the Rams to the seventh place game.

In their final match, the Rams defeated Guelph 7-3 to finish in seventh place. In that match, the Rams got wins from both men's singles entries Ryan Dhingra and Andy Ng. Those two partnered together to win their men's doubles game, as did the duo of Quan Chu and Ivan Li. The Rams women's doubles pair of Rini Chiu and Annie Lin cruised to a victory before Lin and Li paired up for a mixed doubles win.
