PICKERING, Ont. - The TMU Bold badminton team finished seventh at the OUA championship for the second year in a row, but first-year
Sean Huang stood out among the field and took home the Rookie of the Year award.
The Bold posted a 1-3 record in pool play, dropping decisions to Toronto (10-0), Waterloo (9-1), and Ottawa (8-2) while earning a victory over Ontario Tech (6-4) to finish fourth in the pool. That positioning gave them a direct bye to the seventh place game, where they met the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks once again. In the final tie of the event, the Bold emerged with a 6-2 victory.
Huang picked up four wins throughout the competition, anchored by his strong play in men's doubles where he earned three wins.Â
The Toronto Varsity Blues earned the championship title.
