Gee-Gees await Rams for weekend clash in Ottawa

TORONTO - The Rams men's basketball team is gearing up to head northeast this week to face the Ottawa Gee-Gees in their second last series of the regular season.

Currently standing at third in the OUA East division, the team has six wins and four losses this season, following last weekend's series split against the Toronto Varsity Blues. The Gee-Gees place just above the Rams in second, and up until last Friday, were undefeated in the season.

Ottawa, ranked first in the league in steals and second in points per game allowed, will present a defensive challenge for the turnover-heavy Rams.

The team has been working hard on their defensive development all season, and while head coach David DeAveiro is proud of the progress they've made throughout the year, he's emphasized transition defence as a need for improvement more than anything.

What the Rams do well is score, and they will need to compensate for their weaker playing aspects by taking advantage of their shooting abilities. Ranking third in the league in points per game, this weekend's series will offer an interesting matchup between a team of sharp shooters versus one that knows how to effectively protect the basket.

The teams will be taking to the court Friday at 8 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m. You can tune in live at OUA.tv as the Rams fight for a top seed in the postseason.
