Bold fall short in fourth quarter to Lakers

TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team fell short in the last quarter of their game against the Nippissing Lakers Saturday night, losing 79-92.

The loss puts the team at a 3-4 win record ahead of their two final games of the Fall portion of the season next week.

The first quarter saw TMU get off to an early lead, one they maintained until the half. The Bold looked tight on the defensive end in the opening quarter, with 11 rebounds and a number of steals.

TMU let their game falter in the third, shooting 50 per cent in the field against the Lakers' 64.7 per cent. Nippissing had outscored the Bold by five points before the last quarter, but dominated in the fourth with 27 points alone to TMU's 18.

Despite the loss, Bold captain Aaron Rhooms showed leadership on the court. The sophomore put up 33 points, seven rebounds and four assists throughout the game and shot 58.8 per cent from the field.

Lamar Everd also produced, scoring 16 points for the Bold and shooting 70 per cent from the field.

The team will conclude their road trip next weekend, playing Queens in Kingston on Friday, Dec. 2 before heading to Oshawa Saturday evening. Tip-off for Friday is scheduled for 8 p.m and you can tune in at OUA.tv.
