Bold drop 54-64 to Marauders despite close game

HAMILTON, ONT. — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team fell 54-64 to the McMaster Marauders on the road Friday evening. Despite a close game and unwavering effort, the loss leaves the team searching for their first win four games into the season.

After a slow first quarter, where the Bold scored eight points and allowed six turnovers, forward Rachel Farwell tightened the score, building momentum for the rest of the team.

Farwell produced on both ends, scoring 16 points, five rebounds and five steals throughout the game. Defensively, Jayme Foreman, Kait Nichols and Tiya Misir had six rebounds each, while Kaillie Hall had four assists.

The second half saw the Bold cutting McMaster's lead down to one point, taking advantage of the opposing team's turnovers and outscoring them in the third.

By the last quarter though, the Marauders had regained control of the court and ended the game with 10 points on the Bold.

TMU will return to home court Saturday afternoon to host the Algoma Thunderbirds. Come support the team in person at the Mattamy Athletic Centre or tune in online at OUA.tv.

Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
