Back-and-forth on the court ends in Bold loss to McMaster

HAMILTON, ONT. — A back-and-forth game on the court ended in a 68-75 loss for the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team Friday evening, despite establishing a lead against the McMaster Marauders for the majority of the fourth quarter.

Both quarters in the first half ended with the teams tied in score. Where the Bold lacked in rebounds (seven to McMaster's 14), they made up for in shooting percentage (36.8 in the first and 40 in the second from the field).

TMU looked alert on both ends in the third quarter, shooting 41.2 per cent and getting rebounds. Going into the fourth, the team was leading by four.

The last quarter saw the Bold struggling, falling short in shots and allowing turnovers, letting McMaster regain control of the game and the win.

Despite the loss, David Walker led the evening in points, scoring 20 for the Bold and shooting 46.7 from the field. Lamar Everd also contributed on both ends, shooting 57.1 from the field with nine rebounds.

The team will be back on home court Saturday afternoon, at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, to play against the Algoma Thunderbirds. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and you can cheer them on in-person or online at OUA.tv.
