Despite dominance on the pitch, Bold end in draw with Ridgebacks

TORONTO - The Bold women's soccer team ended Sunday afternoon's game against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in a nil-nil draw. The team now has a 3-2-1 record as they head into the second half of the regular season.

Midfielder Vittoria Gallivan took a shot on goal in the game's first five minutes, but the chance was promptly caught by Ridgebacks goalkeeper Alicia Chisholm. The rest of the half saw the Bold controlling possession of the ball and continuing to seek out opportunities at the net with no success on goal.

"We moved the ball well in the first half, we were dominating but we just couldn't finish," midfielder Ivymae Perez said. "Moving forward, we just need to capitalize on our chances and follow through to score. It's really about how bad we want it as a team."

The team's closest chance of the match came with less than ten minutes left, when forward Journey Lashley headed the ball off the bar. By the 90th minute mark, the Bold had lost their earlier momentum and both teams finished scoreless.

Goalkeeper Abby Harrison stayed active at the net, however, making three saves throughout the 90 minutes.

Interim head coach John Yacou said that the message for Sunday's game was to perform better than the team had Saturday afternoon, and that they'd accomplished that.

"We created good scoring opportunities. We were unlucky on a few, but battled hard for most of the game," he said. "So I'm proud of the team."

The team returns to the pitch for their final home game of the season this coming Thursday evening when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues starting at 5 p.m.
