Preview: Men's soccer eager to double down in matchup against visiting Varsity Blues

TORONTO - The No. 8 nationally ranked Rams men's soccer team will look to continue their hot start to the season in Saturday evening's tilt with the visiting Toronto Varsity Blues at Downsview Park.

It was the Varsity Blues that fell to the Rams during the season's opener on September 25 at Varsity Stadium, and Toronto's voracious squad is sure to be hungry to get into the win column. In particular, Rams veteran attacker Abdallah El-Chanti (Toronto) figures to be a major part of the home team's attack plan, since it was he who gave the Rams the lead in the second half of the season's first match.

Following that game, Rams coach Filip Prostran alluded to the team's second game as being a particularly pivotal (and challenging) one for them in the early going.

"It'll be a different beast next week," Prostran remarked postgame on Saturday.

Since 2005, the Rams own a 14-19 record against their crosstown rivals, and have played to a record of 7-11-1 against the Varsity Blues at home.

Kick-off will be at 8:00 p.m. following the Rams women's game at 6:00 p.m. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and/or PPE to donate to the RSU Good Food Centre. Health screening and entry policies will be enforced at Downsview Park.
