TORONTO - Ryerson Rams men's basketball head coach David DeAveiro is proud to announce his coaching staff for the upcoming season.
Jeremie Kayeye has been named the team's full-time lead assistant coach. Kayeye has spent the last four years as head coach and director of basketball operations with TRC Academy of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA).
"I am very excited about having Jeremie as my lead assistant," said DeAveiro. "He is well respected in the basketball community and his work ethic is relentless. His basketball experiences have helped Jeremie become one of the top assistant coaches in the country."
A skills development coach within Canada Basketball's high performance program, Kayeye also coached Team Ontario's U15 men's squad to a silver medal at the 2019 Canadian Championship. His past experience also includes serving as an assistant coach with the Mississauga Power of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) as well as basketball operations assistant for Raptors 905.
DeAveiro, who was named Ryerson's head coach on April 12, 2020, has also introduced Mario Celebre, Aprille Deus and Mike Selliah as members of the coaching staff.
Celebre spent this past season as head coach of RISE Prep of the OSBA and was a member of the Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball coaching staff from 2017 to 2019. Deus is the strength and conditioning/player development lead coach at King's Christian Collegiate of the OSBA. She played three seasons at Acadia University, where she was the winner of the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Student-Athlete Community Service Award in 2015. Selliah is the head coach of Team Ontario's U17 men's squad and is a former manager, coaching development, for Ontario Basketball.
"I am proud of the staff that Coach Kayeye and I have put together," said DeAveiro. "Our staff is very diverse and each coach brings a unique skill set to our team. They are young, energetic and eager to get after it."
