Rams welcome BGSU transfer Kaillie Hall to roster

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's basketball team is pleased to announce Kaillie Hall as the latest addition to their 2020-21 recruiting class.

Hall, a native of Hamilton, Ont., joins the Rams after spending the 2019-20 season playing NCAA Division I basketball at Bowling Green State University where she appeared in 22 games her rookie season.

"We are very excited to add Kaillie to the Ramily!" says Rams head coach, Carly Clarke. "Kaillie, having been a key contributor on very successful teams throughout her club, provincial team, and high school career, brings her winning pedigree to our program."

Prior to her university career, Hall played high school basketball at Lincoln Prep where she won back-to-back OSBA gold medals in 2017 and 2018 and captained the team in 2018.

Hall also has both provincial and national team experience, captaining Team Ontario at the U17 level, leading the team to a National Championship where she was named a tournament First-Team All-Star, and playing with the U16 Canadian National Team, earning a silver medal at the U16 FIBA Americas.

"In addition to being a great teammate and student, we are thrilled to add Kaillie's persistent work ethic, defensive tenacity, and overall desire to improve to our women's basketball program," continued Clarke.

"As an athlete I am very competitive with a strong desire to win and compete at a high level," says Hall. "I am a point guard who is explosive and dynamic, looks to get to the rim, and can distribute to my teammates. Defensively I am tenacious and value applying extensive ball pressure in the full-court. [...] I pride myself on being a reliable and trusted teammate both on and off the court."

Hall expressed the prospect of studying the RTA: Sport Media program and playing under Clarke as elements that played a part in her commitment to Ryerson, saying, "Not only am I able to study a major in which I am very passionate about but I also will be able to compete and learn from some of the best players and coaches in Canada on a daily basis. I admire coach Clarke's style of play and the strong relationships she is able to build with her players."

The city of Toronto also seemed to have played a role, as Hall shared "[...] Toronto has always held a piece of my heart and I cannot wait to be playing in front of my friends and family all while representing Ryerson."
