TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's soccer team has officially announced their second recruit of the off-season, Jacob Carlos.
Carlos is a Mississauga, Ont. native that is set to study Arts and Contemporary Studies at Ryerson and will join the team this fall.
Carlos was a member of Toronto FC Academy for the 2018-2019 season, playing with the U18/19 squad. He has also spent time in Europe, playing for Portuguese club Académico de Viseu F.C in 2017-18 and Swedish club IK Frej in 2016-17. Finally, the right-footed center-midfielder is a three-time Ontario Cup gold medalist, having played for Elgin Mills SC in those tournaments.
"Jacob comes to us with a high skill set and passion to compete," says Rams head coach Filip Prostran. "Formerly being a part of TFC Academy, Jacob is already accustomed to an environment of discipline, hard work, and high expectations."
A graduate of St. Martin S.S. in Mississauga, Carlos says Ryerson will be a key stepping stone to reaching his goals.
"I chose Ryerson because they have a very good young team and coaching staff. The facilities at Ryerson are top-notch. The school is highly rated academically and will help me reach the next levels of my career," says Carlos.
Prostran went on to discuss Carlos' potential impact on the squad, saying, "We expect Jacob to come in and fortify our midfield and make an impact to our program as soon as training camp opens up."
Carlos is the second to commit to the Rams, joining Ali El-Zair, announced earlier on Thursday. Stay tuned to ryersonrams.ca for more recruit announcements as they become available throughout the summer.
