TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams head to Waterloo to face off against the Warriors for their first matchup of the season on Wednesday before playing the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night.
The Rams are coming off a hot start in the second part of their season while the Warriors are looking for the first win of the new year.
Ryerson came away victorious against the No. 10 Western Mustangs last Saturday. It was a historic game for forward
Tanor Ngom (Dakar, Senegal) who set a new record for most rebounds in a game with 23. He and
Tevaun Kokko (Markham, Ont.) also put up 23 points to lead the team to victory. The Rams led throughout the game and were able to stifle an impressive Mustangs resurgence.
The Warrior,s on the other hand, are not doing so well in 2020. Waterloo is coming off their second loss of the second part of their season, a 79-69 loss against the Guelph Gryphons. Nedim Hodzic led the Warriors with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Despite a consistent performance, the Warriors could not catch up to the strong offensive start by the Gryphons.
The Rams have proven to be a strong offensive team, especially in the first half but, they need to remain consistent as they close off their games. The Warriors need to increase their shooting percentage and become an aggressive offensive team, especially if they want to take away a win from the Rams.
Saturday night Ryerson will head across town to play the Varsity Blues for the second time this season. The first matchup was a tight 80-73 decision for the Varsity Blues which marked Toronto's first win over Ryerson since 2013. You can bet the Rams will be looking to get back in the win column against their downtown rivals.
The Rams face off against the Warriors on Wednesday, January 15 then the Varsity Blues on Saturday, January 18. Tip off for both games is at 8:00 pm ET. Catch the action live on OUA.tv.
