Rams looking for statement win this weekend against Varsity Blues

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's soccer team will rematch against their local rivals the Toronto Varsity Blues, just six days after their 0-0 tie against them last Sunday.

Last weekend's matchup between these two teams ended in a goalless draw after a tense and competitive match took place at Varsity Stadium. After an even first half with chances on both ends, the Rams put significant pressure on the Blues in the second half, hitting the woodwork twice and creating many chances.

With both teams currently tied for second place in the OUA East standings sitting on 17 points, a win for either team could prove to be a deciding factor later on in the season.

Saturday's match is the Rams' only game of the weekend, and the Blues will face a winless Trent team on Sunday, so expect very strong lineups once again for both sides.

Blues senior midfielder Atchu Sivananthan looked the most dangerous for the side last weekend, and expect Toronto to look for him to create more dangerous opportunities this Saturday. The Rams will once again turn to Abdallah El-Chanti (Toronto, Ont.) and Muaz Saleh (Hamilton, Ont.) for goals, especially since the Rams have not scored in their last two games.

The Rams have not lost to the Blues since November 2016, and they will look to keep that streak going this Saturday, September 28th at Downsview Park at 3:15 p.m.
