KINGSTON, Ont. - After tying the game at 1-1 in the opening half, the Ryerson Rams women's soccer team couldn't find a second half equalizer and fell 2-1 to the Queen's Gaels in the 2019 season opener.
The Gaels opened the scoring in the 28th minute when they converted on a corner kick.
Just two minutes later,
Alex Rodkin (Whitby, Ont.) got the Rams on the board with the first goal of the campaign.
The teams went into halftime knotted at 1-1.
In the second half it was Queen's who were able to sustain the most pressure and found the back of the net in the 64th minute when Jenna Matsukubo put the Gaels ahead for good.
Queen's outshot Ryerson 9-3 in total while the shots on target favoured the home side 5-2.
The Rams are back in action on Sunday, September 1st when they visit the RMC Paladins. Kickoff in Kingston is set for 1 p.m.
