GUELPH, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams men's volleyball team couldn't extend their win streak on Friday as they ran into a hot Guelph Gryphons team, falling in straight sets 3-0.
The No. 9 nationally ranked Gryphons stayed unbeaten and showed off their fire power, hitting an impressive 0.390 percentage on the night. That more than doubled Ryerson's efficiency of 0.143 percent.
Guelph jumped out to an early lead in the first and cruised from the technical timeout to a 25-13 win to take a 1-0 lead.
Ryerson's offence became more aggressive in the second but their errors racked up both at the net and from the service line, giving the Gryphons some easy points which they took advantage of, winning the second 25-22.
In the third it was more of the same from the Gryphons as they stayed efficient, committing just four errors while Ryerson hit eight. Despite keeping the set close until the 20-20 mark, Ryerson couldn't find the finishing touch and Guelph emerged with a 25-21 set win to claim the match 3-0.
Ryerson's
Xander Ketrzynski (Toronto) led all players with 15 kills.Â
The Rams will look to put this match behind them as they get set to face the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night in Waterloo. First serve flies at 8:00 p.m. from the Physical Activities Complex.
