TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's basketball team is hoping to put a tough weekend behind them and look ahead to hosting the Windsor Lancers at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Friday night.
Ryerson dropped both games of a doubleheader against Lakehead last weekend. In the first game the Rams found themselves in a deep hole and nearly came all the way back but ultimately lost by two points. The next night, the script was flipped with Ryerson building a large lead but the Thunderwolves were able to complete their comeback to earn a narrow four point win.
The Rams now sit at 1-3 heading into Friday's action and will battle the 2-2 Windsor Lancers.
The two teams look similar on paper, and should provide an intriguing matchup for fans at Coca-Cola Court. Ryerson's three point and free throw shooting percentages are among the league's best, but Windsor is efficient from the floor as well, ranking sixth in the OUA in field goal percentage.
Ryerson holds their opponents to an average of 72.5 points while Windsor's defence is close behind with an average of 76.0 points allowed. The Lancers head into the game ranked second in the league in steals per game so look for them to pressure Ryerson's ball handlers and create some points off turnovers.
The Rams have won their last five games against Windsor, including a preseason 84-70 win earlier this year, so they will look to continue the streak on Friday.
Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. and Ryerson students are free with their OneCard. The game is also available on OUA.tv
