Six different goal scorers lead Rams over Voyageurs

SUDBURY, Ont. - After falling behind just three minutes into the game, the Ryerson Rams offence took control on Friday night to defeat the Laurentian Voyageurs 6-2 for the team's third straight win.

Despite their early deficit, Ryerson tied the score after Avery Horlock (Pickering, Ont.) forced a turnover along the half boards and centered the puck to Karli Nummikoski (Thunder Bay, Ont.) who made no mistake for her fourth goal of the season. The game stayed level at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The Rams scored early and often in the second period, tallying three straight goals to earn some breathing room.

Camryn Tait (Toronto) scored her first of the season when she found a rebound off the end boards and fired it home to give the Rams a 2-1 lead just 56 seconds into the second. About three minutes later, captain Kryshanda Green (Brampton, Ont.) had a great individual effort on a rush starting from her own zone and ending with an easy tap in goal for Erika Crouse (Kirkland Lake, Ont.) for what turned out to be the game-winner.

Green then scored Ryerson's fourth goal after Crouse had split her defenders and left the puck in the crease for Green to slot home.

Before the period ended, Laurentian did get back on the scoreboard as Jaimee MacDonald scored on the powerplay to make it a 4-2 game headed to the third.

Not content with a two goal lead, the Rams continued to pressure in the final frame and were rewarded twice more. Teagan Gartley (Kitchener, Ont.) scored her first OUA goal on a wrist shot from the top of the circle to extend the lead to 5-2 midway through the frame.

Avery Horlock rounded out the scoring with just over a minute left in the game.

In goal, Ryerson's Rachel Seeley (Ottawa, Ont.) was impressive once again, stopping 32 of 34 shots faced for her third straight victory.

The streaking Rams will look for their fourth straight win on Saturday night when they face the Nipissing Lakers. Puck drop in North Bay is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be available on OUA.tv
