LONDON, Ont. - Ryerson's skates showed no signs of rust in their 6-2 win over the Western Mustangs on Friday night in London.
Despite nearly an entire week off since their overtime loss against Toronto, the Rams played with energy and stifled all of Western's momentum. Six separate skaters got their names on the scoresheet, and
Garrett Forrest (Ashburn, Va.) secured the 19-save win.
David Miller (Burlington, Ont.) continued his hot streak, sniping his fourth goal for the game-winner.
Hayden McCool (Whitby, Ont.) opened the scoring six minutes into the first. Western's Ethan Szypula knotted it up later on and the opening frame ended in a tie.
Ryerson started to pull away in the second period as
Steven Harland (Toronto) and Miller's goal put the Rams up 3-1. The Rams easily outshot the Mustangs all game, finishing with 25 shots over Western's 21.
The Rams were relentless in the third, adding three more tallies.
Mathew Santos (Toronto) and
Gregory DiTomaso (Etobicoke, Ont.) added two powerplay goals, and
Devon Paliani (LaSalle, Ont.) secured his second of the season.
Cavin Leth (Taber, Alta.), Santos, and McCool all put up three points by the final whistle.
Echoing some of their early season issues, the Rams only went 2-for-9 on the man-advantage. With the clear offensive prowess in the Rams' lineup, it will be interesting to watch what the squad can do when they tighten up their powerplay.
Ryerson improves to 3-2-1 and will look to carry their momentum into Windsor tomorrow when they play the Lancers at 7:30 p.m.
