TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams are going on a road trip this weekend after a successful 2-1 effort over Toronto last weekend.
On Saturday, the Rams visit the Nipissing Lakers who boast a 3-4-1 record. On Sunday, the squad heads over to Sudbury to face the 2-5-1 Laurentian Voyageurs. The back-to-back will be the first time the Rams play either team this season.
Ryerson's victory on Sunday was the squad's first win in four matches after two draws and a tough loss, but their 5-0-0 start to the year still has them in good shape. Sitting at sixth in the country, the Rams are still contending for second in the division with a 6-1-2 record.
This is largely due to
Abdallah El-Chanti (Toronto, Ont.) and
Ali Ghazanfari's (Stouffville, Ont.) stellar play as of late. El-Chanti had a goal and an assist on Sunday to add to his five-point total this season. Ghazanfari stopped all but a penalty shot while facing 10 shots on goal. The duo's recent success has earned them Star of the Week (El-Chanti) and Athlete of the Week (Ghazanfari) honours over the past two weeks.
With five games remaining in the regular season, and two against the unbeaten Carleton Ravens later on, this weekend's series is crucial for the Rams.
While both games kickoff at 2 p.m. this weekend, only Saturday's against Nipissing will be available on
