Shae Dheensaw was named the Rams Lead Assistant Coach in the summer of 2021.
Dheensaw is the second full-time assistant coach in women's basketball program history.
Dheensaw played a crucial role in the 2021-22 season, assisting in leading the Rams to an undefeated season to win an OUA and U SPORTS national title. The team went 14-0 through conference play, then concluded the OUA season with a 22-point fourth quarter comeback to claim the Critelli Cup for the program's second provincial title. The team was ranked No. 1 heading into the Final 8 national championship, and the Rams defeated UPEI, Brock, and Winnipeg en route to the team's first national championship and only the second for any team at the university.Â
Dheensaw was a member of the coaching staff for Team World at the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit.Â
Before joining TMU, Dheensaw spent three seasons at the University of Victoria where she started as a lead assistant coach before serving as the interim head coach of the Vikes for the 2020-21 season.Â
Prior to her time with Victoria, Dheensaw spent time at both the University of Washington and Washington State University in the role of video coordinator.
As a player, Dheensaw represented Canada at the U16 and U17 level at FIBA World Championship events before a successful collegiate career at Washington State. Dheensaw played for the Cougars from 2011-15, accumulating 535 points, 307 rebounds, and 98 blocks in 112 games in the PAC-12 conference. She graduated from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Dheensaw went on to obtain a Master’s in Education from the University of Washington.
