Matt Harris was named head coach of the Ryerson Rams men's volleyball team in April of 2018.

Harris joined the Rams programs in 2012 and mainly served as an assistant coach with the women’s program under head coach Dustin Reid before also transitioning to the men’s team in 2015-16.

Harris led a young and hungry team mixed with rookies and veteran presence through through the 2021-22 season, posting a 5-8 regular season record, and a two-match post-season run. 

In the 2019-20 season, Harris led the Rams to an 11-7 record and guided his team to the postseason for the program’s eighth consecutive year. 

Harris has ample experience in the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) and was head coach of the Team Ontario men’s program. In 2017, he led Ontario to its first gold medal at the Canada Summer Games since 1993. As coach of Team Ontario he has also won multiple medals at the National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) as well as a tournament victory at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championship in Florida. He was also co-head coach for the Volleyball Canada, Youth National Team in 2018.

Over the course of his career Harris has also worked with the Pakmen Volleyball Club, Scarborough Titans, Aurora Storm, Ottawa Fusion, National Capitals, and Ottawa Kangaroos club teams.

Harris played his collegiate volleyball at Algonquin College.
