TORONTO — Toronto Metropolitan University's men's rugby program is ushering in a new era with the appointment of a refreshed coaching staff. The changes mark a significant step forward for the young program, which has its sights set firmly on joining the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) league in the coming seasons.
The new coaching team brings a blend of high-level playing experience, innovative strategies, and a modern approach to player development. Their focus extends beyond tactics and fitness — they aim to build a strong team culture rooted in discipline, resilience, and hard work.
"This is an exciting time for TMU rugby," said four year veteran and Team Captain
Tanner Jackson. "Our new coaches are committed to shaping our players into not only better athletes, but better leaders on and off the field."
The 2025 training season will feature expanded conditioning programs, skill-specific workshops, and more competitive exhibition matches to prepare for the high standards of OUA play. Players and supporters alike are energized by the new direction, with optimism running high that the program's growth will soon translate into formal league competition.
With fresh perspectives at the helm and a clear long-term vision, TMU's Men's Rugby Team is ready to make its mark on the GTA's and Ontario's university rugby landscape.
