TORONTO - The TMU men's rugby team had a Bold season opener against the York Lions with an 81-0 blowout win.
The lads came out fast with an early try from
Shane Dixon off a crash ball from Tanner Jackson. Soon after Massimo Baladasarra followed up with a strong run and was able to slide into the try zone, giving the team a healthy cushion to start. From there, captain
Braeden Andreoli facilitated the offence and ran up the scoreboard with every offensive opportunity. The Bold were dominating in every facet of the game with immense pressure on defence, strong ball carrying, and amazing system and set piece plays, leading to the 81-0 win.Â
This win marked the coaching debut of Patrick Maulson, the veteran coach who has been successful with many different clubs. It also marked the debuts of first years Tanner Jackson, Feinleigh Hay, Ciaran McCann, Randolph Tuiz, Daniel Illesanmi, Nicholas Valencia, Devlin Williams and, Russ Bastow. A great day for Bold rugby!
Look out next Sunday as the team takes on Toronto at Varsity Stadium with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
