Bold Stay Hot on Offence, Take Down Voyageurs in Road Win

Sudbury, Ont. — The No. 6-ranked Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer team brought home a win in a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Laurentian Voyageurs, 3-2.

After falling from No. 3 to No. 6 in the U SPORTS national rankings this week, the Bold entered the game with something to prove.

That fire led to an early lead for TMU, as forward Cyrus Rollocks found the back of the net in just the third minute. Midfielder Justin Santos assisted on the play.

Rollocks has scored in three of the team's four matches this year, bringing a strong offensive presence in his first season with the Bold. The team has been lights out on the attack, currently sitting second in the OUA in both goals with 11.

Later in the first, the Voyageurs decided it was their turn for some offencse. A goal from Joseph Martins tied things up at 1-1 in the 13th minute.

The Bold struck right back, though, as defender Kaostubh Bolla snuck one in within just two minutes of Martins' goal. TMU's Luc Ihama assisted on the play, helping Bolla notch the first score of his Bold career.

The blistering pace of the match would slow down for the rest of the first half, with both teams holding strong on defence.

The Voyageurs were the first to end the drought in the second, as they tied the game back up at 2-2 with a goal from Jaiden Santo.

It was the Bold though who yet again showed their ability to respond under pressure, as they regained the lead yet again. Defender Luka Porfiris found the net with Santos adding his second assist of the match.

The goal, which ended up sealing the game, was the first of fourth-year Porfiris' career. In 34 games played with TMU, he's been a key piece to the team's system for a long time. It's only fitting that the veteran notched his first goal at such an important time in the game.

With the win, the Bold have improved to an impressive 3-0-1 on the season. They'll stay up North for the weekend, facing off against the Nipissing Lakers tomorrow afternoon in the second match of a weekend back-to-back. The game kicks off at 2:15 p.m. and can be viewed on OUA.tv.
