OTTAWA — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team ended their 2024-25 season with a 76-60 loss to the nationally-ranked No.1 Carleton University Ravens in the OUA semi-finals, 76-60. This marks the third consecutive year that the Bold have reached the OUA semifinals.
Fourth-year standout
Jayme Foreman left it all on the court, finishing the game with an impressive 22 points.
From the outset, the Bold come out with intensity, eager to get some early chances. Their defence was solid in the opening possessions, preventing the Ravens from getting good looks at the basket. The game rapidly became a high-energy contest, with the score going back-and-forth between the teams. Foreman played a crucial offensive role, netting three three-pointers in the first quarter.
Despite the Bold's efforts, the Ravens managed to pull away, leading after the first frame, 23-15.
Carleton came out strong in the second, going on an offensive spurt. The Bold continued to fight, with Hailey Fedick marking her defensive presence, blocking a shot and finishing the game with eight rebounds.Â
Kaillie Hall drove towards the rim, finishing the first half with six points, pushing to try and close the gap. The Ravens continued to maintain authority on the court and took the first half, 55-33.Â
Despite the deficit, the Bold refused to back down in the third quarter.
Hailey Franco DeRyck was a force on the court, finishing with six rebounds and four blocks. Foreman continued to shoot consistently from beyond the arc, adding points to the board for the Bold.
While the Bold were able to make some slight advances, the Ravens still claimed the lead after the third, 69-46.
In the fourth, the Bold went for one last push.
Catrina Garvey executed some nice plays, finishing the game with nine points. Hall also continued to bring her full effort, finishing the game with 10 points.Â
The Ravens held firm, securing a 76-60 victory in the fourth quarter, and advancing to the OUA final.Â
The Bold can take pride in their season, accumulating impressive feats. They registered a 17-5 record in the OUA regular season and claimed the top spot in the OUA Central Division.Â
As the season concludes, the Bold will begin their offseason, looking to regroup and pick things back up in the fall.Â
