ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team produced a commanding 92-73 win over the Brock Badgers on Tuesday night at Bob Davis Gymnasium. Led by an explosive performance from
Aaron Rhooms, who recorded a career-high 43 points on an efficient 15-of-23 shooting, the Bold controlled the game from start to finish.
TMU set the tone early with a scorching 31-point first quarter, fueled by Rhooms' sharpshooting from beyond the arc. The team maintained their momentum into the second quarter, outscoring Brock 21-12 to take a comfortable 52-34 lead into halftime.
Despite a stronger third quarter from Brock, TMU weathered the push and closed out the game with a dominant fourth quarter.
Javier Gilgeous-Glasgow contributed 18 points and a team-high nine assists, while
Landon Wright added eight points and six rebounds off the bench. Rhooms also led the Bold in rebounding as he collected 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. His 43 points is the fourth-most by a TMU player in a single game in school history.
TMU's efficiency from three-point range was a difference-maker, as they knocked down 16 three-pointers at 47.1 percent. In addition, the Bold brought the energy defensively, forcing 19 turnovers and converting them into 23 points.
With the win, TMU improves to 12-7 on the season while Brock falls to 14-5. The Bold have three games remaining in the regular season as they fight to improve their position in the standings heading into the OUA playoffs.
Next up for the Bold is senior night on Saturday, February 8 against York. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. TMU students can attend for free with their OneCard.
