WINDSOR, Ont. — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's volleyball team showed signs of offensive improvement on Saturday afternoon, but the nationally ranked Windsor Lancers proved too strong in a 3-0 defeat (18-25, 21-25, 19-25) in the second match of the weekend road series.
After struggling to find their rhythm early, the Bold responded with a strong second set, pushing Windsor to four ties and two lead changes. TMU's offence showed more balance than the night before, finishing with 29 kills and a .128 hitting percentage — a noticeable uptick from Friday's performance.
First-year players led the way for TMU.
Ross Buchanan posted 10 kills on an efficient .304 hitting percentage, adding three digs and a block for a team-high 10.5 points.
Aidan Suttie contributed five kills and two digs, while
William Gimbert added six kills and seven points.
Setter
Declan Dunn orchestrated the TMU attack with 17 assists, and
Evan Moua led the team with four digs.
Despite TMU's growth offensively, Windsor's efficiency proved decisive. The Lancers hit .388 on the match — including an impressive .500 in the third set — and tallied 10 total blocks to disrupt the Bold's attack.
The Bold will have time to regroup before their next matchup, facing Trent in Peterborough, Ont., on Friday, Nov. 28. First serve is scheduled for shortly after 7:30 p.m., and the match can be streamed on OUA.tv.
