No. 7 Bold Clinch First-Round Bye With 1-1 Draw Versus No. 8 Carleton

Ottawa — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer secured a key 1-1 draw against the Carleton Ravens, clinching a first-round bye in the OUA playoffs.

Traveling to Eastern Ontario for their final regular season matchup, the stakes were high for the Bold—they needed at least a point to secure the bye.

Entering the contest on a five-game winning streak and coming off a statement victory on Monday over the reigning OUA champions, the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, TMU was ready to carry this momentum into their final match of the regular season.

The Bold's rivalry with the Carleton Ravens runs deep. These nationally ranked teams have had numerous battles in the past, including last year's dramatic OUA quarterfinal game, where the Bold secured a hard-fought victory in extra time.

Entering the game ranked No. 7 and 8 nationally, both teams hit the pitch with playoff positioning on the line. Starting the first half, the Ravens looked comfortable on the pitch, making advances whenever possible. But it was the Bold's backline that kept them in the game, stepping up with crucial defensive plays. TMU defender Noah Bickford stood out, producing several key blocks.

Nicholas Allison also delivered a strong performance in goal, making crucial saves to keep the Ravens at bay.

With the game still deadlocked at 0-0, TMU's Cyrus Rollocks capitalized on a corner kick in the 39th minute, putting the Bold on the board. TMU finished the first half with a 1-0 lead.

Feeling the pressure of the Bold's narrow one-point goal lead, Carleton responded in the second half, determined to not let the game slip away from them. In the 58th minute, the Ravens scored to tie the game 1-1.

With an even playing field once again, both teams were starting fresh. Carleton, energized by their goal, began to take control of the pitch. Despite their advances, TMU's defensive core held strong, shutting down Carleton's attacks.

Goalkeeper Allison continued his standout performance in the second half, making quick, instinctive decisions to protect the Bold's net. After a tightly contested stoppage time, neither team could find the game-winner. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, keeping the Bold vs. Ravens rivalry alive.

With this result, the Bold can now shift their focus to recovery and preparation ahead of the OUA postseason. Their quarterfinal contest is set for the weekend of Oct. 18, with their opponent still to be determined.
