OSHAWA, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team secured a 76-63 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Saturday night, highlighted by season highs in scoring, assists, and rebounds from several players.
Aaron Rhooms led TMU with a season-high 31 points. He was in rhythm all evening, shooting an efficient 13-for-20 from the field, with many of his shots coming from mid-range jumpers. The Toronto native was one of two Bold players to score in double figures, with Maxime Louis-Jean contributing 13 points. Javier Gilgeous-Glasgow came close to a double-double, adding nine points and a career-high nine assists. Jahcobi Neath and Kevin Toth handled much of the gritty work for the visitors, recording career highs of 10 and nine rebounds, respectively.
The Bold controlled the game for most of the evening, setting the pace and dominating the paint with 32 points scored inside. TMU outscored the Ridgebacks in three of the four quarters and consistently responded when Ontario Tech threatened with short runs.
With the win, the Bold improve to 10-6, while the Ridgebacks drop to 6-10. Up next for TMU is the Metro Hoops Classic against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Wednesday, January 29. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. TMU students can attend for free with their OneCard.
