ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan Bold (TMU) women's hockey team took on the Brock Badgers in the first contest of a three-game road trip, coming out with a big 2-0 shutout win.
Both teams entered the evening with an evenly matched record of seven wins. It was a special night for the Bold because it
Mia Morano's 100th career game.
The Bold held off during the first and it ended scoreless for the first, as both teams were strong on defence.
In the second, the Bold stood strong in front of the net, helping out goaltender
Alexia Stratos, who made 34 saves.
Going into the third period, the Bold had to make some plays to get past the Badgers on the scoreboard.
Cailey Davis fired the game's first goal halfway through the third period and put the Bold on the board.
The Badgers could not keep up with the Bold who were quick on the ice, and Stratos was a brick wall in between the pipes all game long.
Captain
Emily Baxter secured the insurance empty-netter goal late in the third to make it a 2-0 game.
The Bold finished out on top and will rest before getting back on the ice tomorrow in Guelph to take on the Guelph Gryphons. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:30 pm and will be streamed on OUA.tv
