THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The No. 6 nationally-ranked Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team fell in an 87-75 loss to the Lakehead Thunderwolves inside C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse on Saturday night. The Bold outscored the Thunderwolves 63-58 outside of a very challenging third quarter, which ultimately proved to be their undoing. TMU was bested by 17 in the third frame, 29-12.
Aaron Rhooms led the Bold with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists. 19 of his points came in the first half to help the Bold take a 38-35 lead into the halftime break.
Javier Gilgeous-Glasgow produced 13 points and four assists while
Kevin Toth dished out a game-high six assists.
For the second consecutive night, the Bold won the turnover battle against the Thunderwolves, committing only seven compared to the 17 by the hosts. The Bold shot 41.9 percent from the field and struggled from beyond the arc, converting on just 22.6 percent.
TMU now holds a 9-5 record, while Lakehead improves to 12-2 on the season. The Bold will look to bounce back when they battle the Queen's Gaels in Kingston, Ont. on Jan. 24. TIp-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. and can be viewed on OUA.tv.
