TORONTO – The Toronto Metropolitan University women's hockey team was coming off an exciting win against the Badgers last night and expected to bring the same energy today against the Queens Gaels. However, the Gaels would come out on top, defeating the Bold 6-1 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
The first half of the opening period was quiet on both sides, but a penalty from the Bold in the 9th minute led to a power play goal for the Gaels. The Bold held off the Gaels for the rest of the period and ended with a score of 0-1.
Going into the second the Bold hoped to close the gap but the Gaels added their second goal of the game just four minutes into the frame. Halfway through the second period, the Gaels made it 3-0 and followed with their fourth.
"Today the game was a little bit harder. It didn't come as easy. All the identity pieces that we thought were going so well yesterday, we weren't able to get ourselves back on track in that second period," said TMU head coach Lisa Haley.
The Gaels would net their fifth and sixths goals in the final minutes of the second period.Â
A late powerplay for the Bold in the third period led to Dayle Chinnick's first-ever OUA goal.
 Â
"It felt good to get a goal. We needed it, we didn't want them to walk away with a shutout, but I think the TMU Bold will have more to offer and we're going to bring that next game," said Chinnick.Â
The Bold will be back in action on November 15, when they visit the Windsor Lancers. Watch the contest on OUA.tv.
