Bold Drop Rematch to Windsor

WINDSOR, Ont. – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's volleyball team was unable to rebound after last night's defeat to Windsor, falling again to the Lancers 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Despite their season opening loss last night, the Bold responded early in the rematch this afternoon. They maintained a lead through the opening stages of the first set, though the Lancers remained competitive in the fight to the first fifteen points of the sets. Windsor eventually pulled away, capitalizing on several Bold net violations and service errors, to take the opening set 25-20.

The Lancers continued their momentum into the second set, jumping out to a quick lead. Windsor rode the momentum to another 25-20 set victory, setting up a pivotal third set for the Bold.

The Lancers grabbed a 10-6 lead in the third set before TMU called an emergency timeout. The break did little to cool the Lancers' momentum, as Windsor continued to stretch their lead. As the Lancers approached 20 points however, the Bold began to come alive. The resurgent Bold managed a 25-23 win, going on a 10-3 run to finish the set.

With their newfound momentum, the Bold and Lancers played a tight fourth set. After drawing to within 1 at 14-13 behind a strong Julia Breen service game, Windsor began to separate with a strong front row performance. Windsor would secure the victory with a 25-17 fourth set victory, dropping the Bold to 0-2 after the opening weekend.

The Bold are back in action next Friday, with a weekend set against the Trent Excalibur. Matches will be streamed on OUA.tv, while students receive free admission to all home games with their OneCard.
