Bold Fall to Concordia on the Road

MONTREAL – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's hockey team fell to the No. 6 Concordia Stringers on Friday night by a score of 5-2.

Ryan Dugas started his second game in goal for the Bold this season, after a shutout in his previous start against Laurier on October 10th. Despite a strong performance from Dugas, the Bold found themselves down early, as Concordia struck just 7:34 into the contest.

Concordia doubled their lead halfway through the second period on their third power play of the game. The Bold entered tonight's contest among the most penalized teams in the OUA, averaging nearly six minor penalties per game.

Concordia added  a third goal just 1:17 into the final period. Just seconds later, TMU got on the board with a pair in quick succession. Daniil Grigorev opened the scoring for the Bold, potting a rebound from a Kevin Gursoy shot. Off the ensuing face-off Grigorev found a wide-open Chris Playfair who one-timed a shot past the Concordia goaltender.

The comeback was short-lived however as penalty problems once again came back to haunt the Bold. Another Concordia power play goal restored the Stingers' two goal lead with just over 12 minutes to play. The Stingers sealed the win with an empty net goal, bringing the final scoreline to 5-2.

The Bold are back in action tomorrow afternoon, taking on the No. 5 McGill Redbirds in a 3:30 matinee. Watch the contest on OUA.tv.
