SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The TMU Bold men's basketball team couldn't bring home a victory on Friday night, falling to Algoma 71-70 on the final possession of the game.
The Bold struggled to find depth scoring on Friday as
Aaron Rhooms and
Lincoln Rosebush carried the load with half of the team's points on the night.
Each quarter saw momentum swing back and forth between the two teams, with TMU jumping out to a 17-11 lead after ten minutes but then found themselves trailing 35-30 at halftime. Likewise in the second half, the Bold played well in the third, outscoring the Thunderbirds 29-15, but the home side responded in the final moments to retake the lead and claim the victory.
This is the first loss to Algoma in the two teams' head-to-head history since the Thunderbirds joined the OUA in 2017.
The Bold will look to rebound next weekend when they return home to host Nipissing and Laurentian on February 2 and 3, respectively.
