Bold blanked by Warriors to open up weekend

The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold Men's baseball squad kicked off their second weekend of the season on the wrong side of the ledger, dropping back-to-back contests to the Waterloo Warriors by a combined score of 25-9. 

Despite the consecutive losses, outfielder Domenic Gonzalez bashed the ball all around the Waterloo field, registering a pair of long balls in Saturday's initial contest to cap off the third-year's five RBI afternoon. 

Defensive mistakes mummified the Bold's chances of starting the weekend off victorious, with the Toronto side committing 10 errors throughout the opening  nine innings of play. The Bold would later commit four defensive errors to the Warriors' three in the second match while also being outhit 10-3. 

The Bold's initial 15-8 loss featured the blue and gold fall into a two-run deficit in the bottom half of the opening frame. Despite knotting the game up at three apiece in the top end of the third, the Warriors would go on to rally a dozen more runs on the board, touching the plate four times in two of their final five innings. 

Warriors catcher Alex Seelmen led the offensive charge with his multi-hit game that rounded a trio of his teammates in the blowout win. 

The second contest between the two sides failed to favour the Bold any better than the first, with TMU scoring their initial run in just the fifth inning. Only a pair of  Bold players registered a knock throughout the 10-1 defeat, with second-baseman Armaan Memari registering two of them. 

The Bold will have their sights set on flipping the narrative entirely tomorrow morning when they host the reigning OUA champions at Dan Lang Field. First pitch against the Queens Gaels is set for 11:30.
