Reigning U SPORTS player of the year Christopher Campoli joins Bold roster

TORONTO - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer team is pleased to announce transfer Christopher Campoli as the first member of their recruiting class ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Hailing from Woodbridge, Ont., Campoli spent the past four years with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks where he racked up numerous awards and accolades. Campoli led the OUA conference with 13 goals and six assists in 11 games in 2022, earning conference MVP honours en route to being named the U SPORTS Player of the Year. He's a two-time OUA all-star and a U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian throughout his three seasons on the pitch, and twice earned Ontario Tech's Athlete of the Year honour.

After completing his Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Campoli will be pursuing his Masters of Business Administration at TMU this fall.

"We are excited to have Chris join our program this fall," said Bold head coach, Filip Prostran. "Chris's individual achievements at the OUA and U SPORTS level speak for themselves, while his on field ability paired with his academic ambitions are what makes him a perfect fit for our program."

Campoli has spent the past two summers playing with Vaughan in League1 action and was previously a member of the Toronto FC Academy program. He has also been drafted into the Canadian Premier League on three occasions.

A self-described "creative, hardworking, and a perfectionist" as an athlete, Campoli's scoring abilities instantly bolster the Bold's offence.

"I chose TMU because of the prestigious MBA graduate program. I feel TMU will offer me the best academic and athletic experience to continue my growth as a student-athlete [and] I feel TMU will provide me with the leadership skills and expertise needed to be successful in the real world," said Campoli. "I also hope to help the men's soccer team win an OUA and U SPORTS national championship while representing TMU in an exemplary manner."

Campoli will kick off his blue and gold career later this fall and stands as the first addition to the Bold's roster.
