Bold fall short to Ravens late in OUA quarter-final

OTTAWA, Ont. — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's basketball team's 2022-23 postseason run came to an end Saturday night, following the team's down-to-the-wire 64-67 loss to the Carleton Ravens in the OUA quarter-final matchup.

Despite the loss, Bold senior and veteran forward Rachel Farwell put up 29 points throughout the night, and added five rebounds and five assists.

First quarter saw the Bold off to an early lead. The team shot 60 per cent from the field, with Jayme Foreman adding nine points with three perfect three-pointers. At one point, they were up by eight, before Carleton cut the lead down to end the first down by one. TMU also tallied four steals in the quarter.

The Ravens were on a run in the second and carried it over to the third, scoring 20 points and holding the Bold to 11. By the half, Carleton was leading by eight, and had widened the gap to 10 points going into the fourth.

Rachel Farwell put on a clinic in the fourth quarter, as the team fought to stay alive. The forward scored 11 points within the first five minutes of the quarter. The Bold capitalized off Carleton's multiple shot clock violations, putting up 20 in the fourth and turning it to a one-possession game.

With eight seconds left and down three points, TMU had one shot at a three-pointer and fell just short, giving the game up to the Ravens.

The team will return next season, looking to come back and further their playoff campaign in 2024.
