Warriors shut out Bold in final game of 2023

WATERLOO, Ont. - The TMU Bold women's hockey team took on the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night in their last game of the 2023 year. The Bold haven't secured a win against the Warriors since early 2020, and looked to end the almost four year hiatus.

The first period started off with the squad working hard to take possession of the puck on foreign ice. Despite the Bold's efforts, the Warriors were able to score a goal.

The Warriors took the lead at the end of the first but there were still two periods for the Bold to make a comeback.

In the second, Bold forward Cailey Davis took a shot on goal but wasn't able to even out the score. The Warriors whizzed past the Bold with two attempted shots but goalie Lauren Griffin was quick with the saves, stopping both.

Although they worked hard, neither team could score which left the Bold trailing the Warriors heading to the third.

In the final period, the Bold struggled to maintain possession and Waterloo found the back of the net twice within the span of a few minutes.

First-year Kerrin Kerr took one of the last shots of play in the game for the Bold, but the Warriors made the stop to secure the shut out win.

The Bold will face the Warriors again in the new year on January 7 on home ice, but first take on the York Lions to open 2024 on January 6.
