Bold end fall semester with tenth straight win

WATERLOO, Ont. - For the last time this semester, the TMU Bold women's basketball team was back on the court hoping to bring home another win, adding to their win streak.

After coming off a big win against the Laurier Golden Hawks earlier in the week, the Bold were looking to do the same at today's game against the Waterloo Warriors.

Quickly, the Bold showed the Warriors how hard they've been working. Within the first five minutes of the first quarter, the Bold had not let the Warriors land a single shot.

Not only were they able to charge to the net with ease, but they were strong on defence, making it difficult for the Warriors to catch up.

Kaillie Hall dominated the first quarter with a total of nine points, followed by Haley Fedick who started the game with an important three-pointer.

Going into the second quarter, the Bold had a slower start and both teams struggled to get the first shot in, but shortly after the Bold picked up the pace and went to work.

Jayme Foreman connected with back-to-back three-pointers, guiding the team on the right path.

In the second half of the game, the Bold hoped to bring the same A-game they had in the first. The Warriors caught up on the scoreboard with many threes in a row, and this was now a tight game.

By the end of the third, the Warriors had momentarily passed the Bold, but a quick rebound by Hailey Franco-DeRyck put them right back in the lead.

The Warriors put up a battle near the end of this game, and a few fouls on the part of the Bold made it easier for the Warriors to catch up.

It was all about coming to a clean and strong finish for the Bold. Hall took the point guard position and used it to open chances for Foreman and it was successful.

The Bold spent the last few minutes of the game focusing on defence, in hopes of keeping their lead. Hall picked up a few more points and the Bold converted on free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

The Bold close the semester with a 10-0 record and sit first in the OUA Central division. The Bold will host the UConn Huskies in an exhibition game on December 20 before returning to conference play on January 5.
