A pair of late goals lift Bold past Lions in shutout win

The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's hockey squad got back to their winning ways on Saturday evening, scoring a pair of late goals in a 2-0 victory over the York Lions.

TMU forward Cailey Davis potted her first goal of the season on the Bold's fourth powerplay of the game to secure the team's first victory in nearly a month.

Emily Baxter added an empty-netter with just over a minute remaining in regulation to put an end to any thoughts of a Lions comeback. Baxter has registered goals in three-straight games for the blue and gold and leads the squad with eight nearly two months into the campaign.

On the other side of the puck, TMU netminder Shannon Harris played a crucial role in keeping the game out of the reach of the Lions, steering aside all six shots in the last twenty minutes of play to help complete her first career OUA shutout. Tonight was just the third start for the rookie netminder all season.

With the victory, the Bold move to 2-11 on the season and finally are in a position to kickstart a win streak before the end of the fall semester. The group will look to build on their momentum this upcoming Friday when they head up to Waterloo for a battle with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
