Five different goal scorers pace Bold over No. 10 Badgers

THOROLD, Ont. - A pair of rapid goals reel in a crucial pair of points for the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's hockey team as the group completed their compelling third period comeback over the Brock Badgers earlier this evening by a 5-3 score.

Zachary Shankar and Kevin Gursoy lit the lamp just 22 seconds apart to stun the Badgers early in the final stanza. Leading scorer Kyle Bollers continued his dominance over Brock this season, picking up a trio of assists to cap off a 10-point season against the red and white.

What finished as an eight-goal fiasco began as a rare goaltending duel between both sides, as TMU's Kai Edmonds and Brock's Mario Peccia did more than just hold down their respective forts throughout the game's initial frame.

Fresh off a 23-save performance against Western, Edmonds found his Achilles heel in the first frame to be exposed yet again, with forward Jacob Roach sneaking his sixth of the season under the arm of the Bold goaltender.

On the other end of the puck, Bollers was denied on a pair of wide-open looks at goal that saw Peccia completely rob one of the league's best. The Brock netminder stretched the width of the crease before flashing the leather to keep Bollers and the Bold off the scoresheet

It would not be until the midway marker of the second frame, however, where the Bold finally made their initial dent in the scoreboard, with first-year forward Ian Martin finishing off an odd-man rush with his first career OUA goal.

Martin's first tally of the campaign not only got the ball rolling for the Bold, but sparked a rapid stretch of play that turned the game's goalie duel into an absolute barn burner.

With less than two minutes remaining in the middle period, the division leaders traded goals within a 14-second span to stupefy both goaltenders.

Elijah Roberts' game-tying marker was promptly met with Cole Tymkin's sixth of the season that brought an elated close to a wild period of hockey between some of the OUA's best.

A ferocious set of twenty followed the Bold in the third and final stanza, with goal scoring being quick and efficient for the blue and gold. Trailing by one, Shankar swiftly leveled things up for TMU on their fifth man-advantage of the afternoon, and just seconds into the opportunity as well.

Yet just 22 seconds after the Bold pulled even with their division rivals, Gursoy and Daniel D'Amico connected on a vital tally for the second game in a row, with the sophomore forward beating Peccia below the glove to completely flip the script for TMU.

Connor Bowie would slip the dagger into the Badgers empty cage to seal the season sweep over the Thorold side and pull three points ahead of Brock in the OUA West standings.

The group will head home to face off against the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks next Thursday. Puck drop at the Mattamy Athletic Centre is set for 6 p.m.
