Bold fall 4-3 in overtime loss to Lions

TORONTO, Ont. -- The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's hockey team fell in a 4-3 overtime loss to the York Lions Thursday night. The team's record now stands at 6-10.

The Bold got off to an early lead with a goal from Dani Fox in the first three minutes of play, assisted by Ahalya Julien-Medeiros and Emily Baxter. TMU looked alert the rest of the period, seeking out opportunities at net and taking 10 shots to York's five.

The second went back and forth with scoring. The period opened with a goal from York within the first minute. Four minutes later, Erika Crouse netted her eighth goal of the season before the Lions answered with the equalizer. Then, rookie Ahalya Julien-Medeiros scored her first OUA career goal and added a third for the Bold, which was swiftly answered by the opposing team to tie the game once again.

Third period saw both teams calm down, remaining scoreless despite TMU's efforts to regain the lead. With under a minute left in the game, the Bold had the power play advantage and carried it through into overtime.

Ultimately though, the Lions scored the golden goal and took the win.

The Bold will look to bounce back Friday night when they return home to play the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
