Bollers, Duco earn men's hockey major awards

BURLINGTON, Ont. - Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced the men's hockey award winners and all-stars on Tuesday, with the Rams taking home three major awards, two all-stars, and one all-rookie team nod.

Kyle Bollers was rewarded for his standout year, taking home four different awards. Bollers earned the West division Rookie of the Year and Randy Gregg major awards, recognizing his contributions both on the ice and in the community. Bollers was also named a West division all-star and to the all-rookie team. In 15 regular season games this year, Bollers finished third in OUA scoring with 25 points and was tied for first with his 13 goals.

In the community, Bollers works hard to ensure that equity seeking communities are being represented and given the same opportunity to play hockey and learn the game. Bollers works with the Black Aces hockey program helping kids learn to skate and is a volunteer assistant coach with the York Mills U18 AA hockey team. He also raises funds through his Against All Odds (AAO) brand of clothing in support of underserved communities and for breast cancer awareness.

Behind the bench, Johnny Duco was named the West division Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. Duco led the Rams to a first place finish in the West division with an 11-4-0 record and had the Rams nationally ranked for the majority of the season. Duco led the Rams to the top penalty kill unit in the country, while also being a threat offensively, ranking second in the OUA in goals per game.

Rounding out the team's award winners is Ryan Wells who was named a West division all-star. Wells played in all 15 games for the Rams and in addition to his defensive prowess was able to contribute 10 points throughout the season.
