Farren's winner gives Rams crucial road victory over Queen's

KINGSTON, Ont. - A late goal by Keelin Farren propelled the Rams to a 3-2 win on Friday night over the Queen's Gaels.

After going down early, Brooklyn Gemmill and Lauren Nicholson quickly knotted the game up. Nicholson's goal extended her point streak to three games, while a Savannah Bouzide assist on Farren's game-winner continued her hot streak.

Things looked dire for the Rams early in the game as a pair of Queen's goals quickly sent them down 2-0. Quinn Johnston beat Rachel Seeley under two minutes in, and Sara Di Filippo struck seven minutes later.

Gemmill and Nicholson answered quickly, with each skater scoring just a minute apart. Gemmill took a backhand feed from Payton Kerr and shoveled it high to open the Rams' scoring. On the next shift, Nicholson strode into the zone and blew it by Makenzy Arsenault in classic fashion for the finisher.

The 2-2 stalemate continued throughout the second, although the Rams' fourth power play came and went as they outshot the Gaels 26-20.

In the third, the Rams continued to attack but failed to beat Arsenault.

A rush in the second half of the period was led by Alexia Ursua who fed a rushing Farren down the slot. After sizing up Arsenault, the defender powered it in to send the Rams up 3-2.

Though the Gaels pulled their goalie late in the game, Seeley and the Rams withstood their attacks and took the game 3-2.

The February 26 game originally scheduled against Nipissing has been cancelled so with divisional points secured tonight, the Rams will look to regroup next week.
