Bold look ahead to playoffs after season finale loss

OTTAWA - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's soccer team dropped their final regular season game with a 4-0 loss to the Carleton Ravens on Sunday afternoon at TAAG Park.

The Bold were searching for revenge in the nation's capital as the Ravens defeated them in a close 2-1 match back in Toronto a month ago. Two quick Carleton strikes gave them a stronghold on the match that they were able to have throughout the 90 minutes.

The Ravens found the opening goal less than 20 seconds after the first kickoff. Chloe Doiron tapped in the go-ahead-goal for Carleton as the home team was up the field in a hurry.

Soon after, the quality start continued for the Ravens as Doiron had consecutive chances for the red and black near the 11-minute mark. However, the Bold defence was able to deny the Dieppe, N.B. native's opportunities to keep the Ravens at bay for the time being.

Nonetheless, around seven minutes later, the Ravens were able to double their lead off a free-kick from Doiron who chipped a shot over Bold goalkeeper Alannah Musolino for her second of the afternoon.

The Bold quickly responded with a scoring chance of their own on the ensuing kickoff as Vittoria Gallivan was found streaking on a breakaway off a pass from Ivymae Perez. Despite the opportunity, the Toronto native couldn't capitalize to cut the lead in half.

The second half was much of the same as the Ravens continued to win loose balls in the midfield and dictate possession.

The two-goal Ravens lead would remain until the 80th minute when the Bold deficit was made three off a header from Lauren Illman. The Whitby, Ont. native would add her second in the 89th minute with another header to make it 4-0.

The Bold's regular season record finishes at 3-6-3 and end in sixth place in the OUA East division.

The blue and gold now look ahead to their playoff match on Wednesday against the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Their crosstown rival got the better of the Bold in both of their matches this season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Varsity Stadium.
