OTTAWA — The TMU Bold men's soccer team had their eight-game win streak snapped on Sunday afternoon, as they fell 5-0 to the Carleton Ravens at TAAG Park.
In a matchup between two programs ranked No. 4 and No. 6 in the latest edition of the U SPORTS Top 10 — the Bold fielded a side with little resemblance to their starting 11 throughout the season.
With the number-two spot in the OUA East Division already clinched, TMU was without the likes of Ali Ghazanfari, Mario McLennon, Brandon Barone, Faisal Ghaffur, Ameer Kinani, Kai Martin, Luca Di Marco and Justin Santos — who have all been mainstays in the program's lineup thus far this season.
Carleton struck first in the 13th minute and didn't look back. The homeside took a 2-nil lead into halftime, before finding the back of the net three more times in the final 45 en route to the win.
First-year keeper Eduard Ambrus made 11 saves in his third start of the season for the Bold, as he suffered the first loss of his OUA career.
The loss means the Bold finish the season with a 9-3-0 record, while the Ravens improved to 8-2-2.
With their regular-season now wrapped up, TMU's attention turns to the OUA playoffs. The Bold will play host to a quarter-final matchup on Saturday at Downsview Park — the only question is who they will welcome to Downsview Park.
With the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks claiming top spot and a bye to the quarterfinal of their own, TMU will play host to the highest remaining seed in the OUA East Division. On Wednesday, three-seed Carleton will play host to the six-seed Queen's Gaels, while the four-seed Nipissing Lakers will welcome the five-seed Toronto Varsity Blues to North Bay, Ont.
