Bold, Voyageurs play to scoreless draw in Sudbury

SUDBURY, Ont. - The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's soccer team failed to build off an assertive first half against the Laurentian Voyageurs earlier this afternoon, drawing 0-0 to the ninth place squad at James Jerome Field in Sudbury.

The scoreless tie marks the fifth straight winless contest for the Bold as well as their third outing without a tally this season.

The Bold surged out of the gate in Sudbury, with a trio of dangerous looks flying off the boot of midfielder Vittoria Gallivan. The third-year would wrap up the half with five attempts at goal to punctuate a colourful offensive display for the Bold.

Leading goal scorer Ivymae Perez also joined the attack force for the visitors, nailing her lone shot attempt just wide of the Laurentian goal. Despite beating Nippising to the punch in yesterday's outing, Perez and the group struggled mightily to produce any form of offence within Saturday's first frame.

By the time the halftime whistle rang out against the Voyageurs, the Bold outchanced the home-side with eight shots; two of which landed on goal.

However, the second set of 45 saw the Voyageurs roar to life offensively. In a span of 15 minutes, the home side peppered Bold goaltender Abby Harrison with a trio of looks in tight, one of which proving to be the group's best opportunity of the afternoon as defender Makayla Forrest sent a header inches away from the mark.

In response to the opposing onslaught, the Bold continued to pick up fouls in an attempt to disrupt the momentum of the home side. The blue and gold would receive 13 cautions by the end of the match, with midfielder Alia Serapiglia being victim of the game's first and only booking in the 79th minute.

TMU's lack of discipline on the pitch would fail to cost them, however the group's shortage in conviction would be the leading cause to their second consecutive draw away from home. The Bold wrapped up Sunday's contest an attempt shy of their season high in shots with 16 looks against the Voyageurs.

The Bold will look to find a way to turn their quantity of chances to more quality looks as they turn their attention to the third-place Queen's Gaels who they play next Friday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. from Kingston.
