TORONTO - Recent Rams men's hockey alumnus Matt Mistele has signed a professional contract with HC 05' Banska Bystrica, a hockey club based in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.

Mistele, a native of Whitby, Ont., will be joining a team that has won the Slovak Tipsport Liga (first division Slovakian league) three times in the last four years.

Mistele played four stellar seasons in the blue and gold, breaking program records in both total points and goals with 144 and 58, respectively. The three-time OUA All-Star and U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian recipient will move on from Ryerson as one of the great talents in program history after graduating from Ryerson's Criminology program this spring.

As of Thursday, August 27th, 2020, there is yet to be a start date announced for the Slovak Tipsport Liga, with past seasons starting in late September. This upcoming season will be Mistele's first professional campaign.

We congratulate our former Ram and wish him all the best in his professional career.
