Wark and Rivest receive national recognition

CALGARY - U SPORTS announced Thursday the women's volleyball major award winners as well as the All-Canadian and All-Rookie teams.

Ryerson's Cailin Wark (Georgetown, Ont.) was named a U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian, while Jasmine Rivest (Montreal, Que.) was selected to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team.

Wark had a career year, registering more than 200 kills for the first time in her four-year career, while finishing with 249.5 total points. She averaged 3.25 kills per set to rank fifth in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and hit at an efficient clip all season, hitting 0.285 percent. She helped the Rams top the team offensive stats as Ryerson led the league in total kills and points. Wark was named OUA East division Player of the Year and an OUA First-Team All-Star.

Rivest posted 2.16 kills and 2.8 points per set for the Rams this season, contributing effectively to one of the conference's top teams. Her athletic ability shone through defensively as well, as she registered a number of key blocks throughout the season. Rivest burst onto the scene back in November with a 20 kill, zero error performance against Waterloo.
